Chloranthus (Sale Begins 12/1 at 9 MST)
Chloranthus is an unusual climbing pea with tiny chartreuse-green flowers scattered along delicate vines. As the blooms mature, copper-orange veining appears on the backs of the petals, adding subtle warmth to their fresh green coloring. Their tendrils stay soft and they make for great greenery and interest in bouquets. Though unscented, this distinctive species brings airy texture and movement to arrangements when harvested as whole trailing stems. 10 seeds per packet.
(*This variety took a long time to germinate for us, almost 30 days!! Stick with them though! They will eventually poke their little heads out of the soil.)
Note: Sweet pea seeds are toxic if ingested. Keep away from children and pets.
Plant Details
Type: Botanical species (Lathyrus chloranthus)
Lifecycle: Hardy annual
Height: 4–6 ft
Sun: Full sun
Days to bloom: Approximately 80 days
Spacing: 8 in
Pinching: Pinch when plants reach 4–6 in tall

Growing Notes
In mild climates, sow seeds in pots in fall, overwinter in a protected location, and transplant outdoors in early spring. In colder regions, start seeds 10–12 weeks before last frost and transplant out around frost date. Provide sturdy vertical support such as netting or a trellis. Seeds have a particularly hard coating, so allow extra time for germination. For arranging, harvest whole sections of vine rather than individual flowers.
